Facebook Timeline Privacy: How To Restrict Your Friends From Posting On Your Wall
If you don’t visit your Facebook Timeline that very often and you haven’t configured yet your Facebook Timeline Privacy Settings then there is a big possibility that your Facebook profile is open to be viewed by all. And the worst part of it is you are allowing other people to post on your Facebook wall – now this might pose a big risk on your part. You might not yet be aware of this but there are so many “bad” Facebook users out there who will uses vulnerability to post their scam messages or applications on your wall. To cite a good scenario, let’s say I am that “bad” Facebook user who created an application called “Free Starbucks Gift Certificate – Just Click here!” and post the link unto your Facebook wall. Now, the Facebook application I created is what we call “click-jacking” application which will allow me to force your account to “Like” a certain page I’ve created or worst an application with embedded bad codes that can penetrate and compromise your account. When you click it then that will be the end of your quiet and private life. And what makes it even worst is when the application sends out spammed messages to your friends (as if you’re the one who sent it) asking them to “Like” the application. Maybe I was a little morbid on my example but it does happen. I can give you a lighter and common example. Let’s say you just had an argument or fight with one of your friends, they can use this Facebook vulnerability to post an unwanted messages on your Facebook Timeline wall and will be seen by your other Facebook friends – now that will be too bad, isn’t it?

So how do we fix this and restrict or block your friends or other people from posting anything on your Facebook Timeline wall? If you’re not into Facebook Timeline yet and you are still using the old Facebook profile look then you can follow the instructions from Jamie Thingelstad, otherwise just continue reading this post.

To fix this, we need to configure and tweak your Facebook Timeline privacy settings. This is where you manage your Facebook Timeline and how you and your friends can use and interact with Facebook. I will show you now how to prevent or restrict other people from posting any messages, photos, videos and links on your Facebook Timeline wall.
First, click that arrow down next to the “Home” link on your Facebook Timeline header.

Then, you will be redirected into a new window called Privacy Settings page. Like the image below.

Then scroll-down on your Facebook Timeline Privacy Settings page a little bit and you will see the “How You Connect”. That is where we will do the trick, click the “Edit Settings” link and an overlay window will open.

Then click the drop-down selection menu of “Who can post on your timeline?”. You will notice that you only have two options – “Friends” and “Only Me”.

I’ve personally picked “Only Me” since I don’t anyone posting on my wall especially when someone poses as me asking my friends to click that link on my wall. Once you’ve decided which one to pick, click the “Done” button. Viola! Basically that’s it.
So how do I check now if it is working? The most effective way is to ask one of your friends to check your Facebook Timeline and check if they can post a comment of message on your Facebook Timeline wall. But another quick one to check this is through Facebook Timeline preview option. You can check this through your Facebook Timeline Account Settings.

Then on the left pane of your Account Settings, click on Subscribers.

Look for the link below that page saying “Want to know what subscribers can see? View your public timeline.” Click that and you will be redirected to your Facebook Timeline preview page. Just type your Facebook friend on the text box and press enter. You will now be able to see how your friends will see your Facebook Timeline page.

I hope this guide helped you set up your Facebook Timeline Privacy settings. If you have any other further questions, don’t hesitate to do ask.
