Samsung Galaxy Nexus GSM Updates Into Android 4.0.2 (ICS) via OTA

It’s final and official! Samsung Galaxy Nexus (GSM) smartphone owners can now enjoy and try the latest Android 4.0.2 Ice Cream Sandwich update via OTA (over-the-air).  I’ve been seeing reports and updates before from other sources like XDA about the Android 4.0.2 Ice Cream Sandwich update for Samsung Galaxy Nexus.  However, with those updates you will be oblige to root or unlock your smartphone – which is not really advisable if you are not sure on what you are doing.  The update shouldn’t take you too long to download because it is only at about 8.8 MB.  I guess this is not a big change and it only includes all bug fixes from the last Android version.

Android 4.0.2 for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus

If your Samsung Galaxy Nexus is connected into the Internet by default then you should be getting this update notification automatically.  However, if you are a prepaid subscriber or if you haven’t received the update yet on your smartphone you can try invoking the update by yourself.  You should just need to go into your Samsung Galaxy Nexus’ Settings and check for any software updates.

There are reports that some countries or regions haven’t got the updates yet, well it’s something normal and all you have to do is wait for your turn or you can go and head into your local Samsung support store and ask them if they could do the update for you.
