Anonymous Hackers Attacks US DOJ, FBI And Others Protesting Against SOPA
As of writing this article, US websites like the Department of Justice and FBI are now down due to the massive DDOS or distributed denial-of-service attacks from the hackers Anonymous and its supporters. After the web-strike yesterday in protest against the proposed bill SOPA and PIPA, Anonymous now made their own version of showing their protest against these bills by launching a massive attack using the so-called LOIC which stands for Low Orbit Ion Cannon tool to bring down the sites. Some of the known websites they attacked and continuously attacking are DOJ, the US Copyright Office, Universal Music, the RIAA, the MPAA, and many more. If you are in Twitter, you can follow the thread #OpMegaupload and you will see the latest update. Why #OpMegaupload? If you are not aware, yesterday the founder of Megaupload.com, Kim DotCom, aka Kim Schmitz was busted by the FBI and was being accused of storing massive online piracy. He is now facing a maximum of 20 years in prison.
Some says that the group is angry because of the arrest made by the FBI hence they’ve initiated and launched the attack. But the real deal here, Anonymous is totally against the two bills I’ve mentioned above. And they are doing this massive attacks along with their supporters in protest against the said bills. If you look into their target websites, they are government offices and companies which are in favor or related to the PRO-SOPA and PIPA bills.
